[Design Decision] Yooers is Yours

August 13, by JULIUS SIRAIT

Papayanews is about #neighborhoods or #places. It has http://jakarta.papayanews.com, http://bandung.papayanews.com, http://bogor.papayanews.com, etc.

We can’t separate neighborhood from @people around that place. Neighborhood is nothing without @people. So, we have URL for @people with this format http://id.papayanews.com/neighbors/[username]. And as an example, here’s mine: http://id.papayanews.com/neighbors/sirait.

But that URL format is ugly. I don’t like it. It seems that URL doesn’t belong to me but belongs to papayanews.

And because of this problem, we bring to you new domain name: YOOERS.COM. Yooers belongs to you. Yooers is yours.

The new format is http://[username].yooers.com and here’s mine: http://sirait.yooers.com. The old format will be deprecated.

I have 2 blogs. I use this yooers as my personal aggregator for my blogs. Many people have more that one blog. You may have blog at blogspot, wordpress, friendster, etc. Some people do this by installing planet software from http://www.planetplanet.org. But that’s too geeky.

You can add up to 3 blogs to your yooers site and papayanews add YOO feature to your yooers.

Thanks

NOTE: In papayanews # is used to address place, neighborhood and @ is used to address person or neighbor.
