Papayanews

July 3, by JULIUS SIRAIT

This is my first post after shutting down blog.bstrap.com :) I have been busy since last month that I couldn’t think of any idea to start this blog.

Okay, I have to admit that I can’t deny the hype of ruby and ruby on rails. I’ve been learning ruby since last two months and I gave it a try to build my long time abandoned idea. I don’t know if ruby and RoR can scale well. And I don’t know if I really need it to be scalable :) But one thing I can comment right now, I love the idea convention over configuration.

Here’s the idea. http://id.papayanews.com. Btw, talking about ideas, I love this post. He mentioned there are 3 kinds of ideas. 1. Obviously good ideas like flying car. 2. Obviously “good” ideas that seem possible but haven’t happened yet like video phone. 3. “Bad” ideas. Many of these ideas are truly bad, but some of them will in hindsight turn out to have been very good ideas.

Most of people have their own bad ideas. Like what I have now :) But I hope this idea is not a truly bad idea. :)) It needs to be tested. Prove it a truly bad idea!:) We need a cheap way to test this idea. And ruby on rails is one of a cheap way.

The idea: this service let you register your blogs. Once you register, you can select your location basis. Let’s say you select cipinang as your location basis. Every time you updates your blog, your new update will be displayed at http://cipinang.papayanews.com and also http://jakarta.papayanews.com. If you know http://planet.terasi.net or http://merdeka.or.id, you know how this works.

The system is invitation base to protect from abuse in the future. If you are interested to try, please feel free to drop me email at sirait.milis@gmail.com. I’ll invite you to join.

Thanks
